what was your first impression on New Zealand?

Hi. I am hoping to go travelling around Australia and New Zealand at the end of the year. I have been saving up for the trip already, and it looks as if I will have all the money I need together in time for the trip. I am just wondering if there are people here that have been there? Could you tell me what your first impression was of the place?

Of course. Lovely weather, interesting people, great food.... But also, a weird feeling that I had simultaneously travelled into the past and the future. The architecture is a bit like the pictures you see of Europe in the old days... While at the same time, you see the modern technology you have anywhere in the western world.
