Is it a bad idea to visit Europe in August??

I am preparing for my first European trip. I am not really sure what cities to visit, but that would be the least problem. I am planning to go in August. Is it a bad idea to visit Europe in August?? What are your recommendations and suggestions? Thank you in advance for the help!

I don’t think it a good idea to visit Europe in August! There are monstrous crowds, heat, and now in many Europe countries (particularly France, Italy, Hungary) shops and other useful institutions smartly close for the summer holidays. Rain hits Belgium, St. Petersburg, Sweden. Avoid major tourist locations in August if you value your harmony.
