Can someone tell me more about tipping in Cancun?

Hi,
My family and me will visit Mexico in one month. This will be our/my first visit to Mexico and will stay at Cancun. Considering that we have never been here before and that we are not familiar with their standards, I hoped that someone could tell me more about tipping in Cancun. Thanks in advance!

Hello,
Well, as you might heard, this is one of the poorer regions although Cancun has highly developed tourism industry. Problem is that their salaries are very low so their incomes come mostly from tips. This means that tips are always expected and sometimes you can’t have good service unless you tip up front. It is expected that you award someone who fixed your problem exceptionally quickly. When you are in a nightclub, it is best that you star with high tips lowing it with each drink ordered. Tipping hotel maid is a must while tipping a cab driver will be highly appreciated but isn’t necessary. Standard tips in Mexican Caribbean are around 15%. I hope this helps…
