Can you recommend short getaway around Atlanta?

I have just moved to Atlanta. I dont know town very well. Especially I dont know where I can make getaway from town for a weekend. Can you recommend me short getaway around Atlanta? I will appreciate every suggestion that you will give me. I am looking forward for a weekend getaway.

There are a lot of places near Atlanta where you can go. Short getaway from Atlanta can be only couple miles from the town. When I lived with my family there, we had spent our weekend around Fontana Lakes. Many times we would go there camping, fishing. It is a great place to go. I like nature, and it is very refreshing after working week. My kids also liked there very much. Even now they sometimes like to make plans to go there camping. But now it is not possible to go there for a weekend. Make sure that your short getaway around Atlanta doesnt start in Friday afternoon. Then all people wants to leave city so the traffic can be very crowded. It is smarter to go in Saturday morning.
