May I get from Brisbane to Mackay by a train?

Hello,
Some friends of mine and I have been planning a trip together this summer and we were thinking of staying in Brisbane, Australia for a couple of weeks and then continue to Mackay. Can anyone tell us is there a possibility to get from Brisbane to Mackay by train? Thanks in advance! bye

hello,
As far as I know some friends of mine have arrived in Mackay from Brisbane last year by train, but they were not very satisfied especially since almost 1000km separates Brisbane and Mackay. The best way is of course a flight to Mackay and it is not much expensive...Have a nice stay there! bye
