I will be spending three weeks on my own in Australia and I was wondering if Australians were friendly and how easy/hard would it be for me to make contact (friendships). I'm pretty open and have good communicating skills Razz

Well, some of us are and some of are not. Razz
Generally I find it much easier to get any sort of a response from complete strangers in Australia then anywhere else I've been, most people I have talked to seem to agree. Australia does have a general reputation of friendly helpful people as far as I know. But I am Australian, so maybe I have some bias...?
Be aware a lot of Australians (myself included) have a rather strong accent can can be hard for some people to understand if they are not used to it. I find particularly people in Asia who speak English quite well just can't understand me at all. If you want to test your ability to understand the Australian accent see if you can find the TV show "Kath and Kim." If you can understand them you have no problems!
