Can you recommend cheap but not dodgy places to stay in London?

My sister and I will be going to London next month and we will probably stay there for 10 days, maybe two weeks. Can you recommend us cheap but not dodgy places to stay in London? We would like to spend money we have on sightseeing and exploring, not on some fancy hotel. Can you help us out with some info?

I agree with you that the hotel is not the most important thing when it comes to traveling. I also like to spend money on fun and getting to now new cultures and people. Even though, from time to time, I like to enjoy quality service in, at least 4 star hotel. But I do that only once in two or three years. As for some cheaper but nice place, I would recommend you to try with Ascot Hyde Park Hotel in Paddington.
