Visiting Vancouver Island stay in Tofino or Port Hardy

I want to visit Vancouver Island and stay in Tofino or perhaps Port Hardy. My friends have been calling me to join them for almost a year, but I could never go due to job obligations and girlfriends desires. Well, now that she is out of the picture and I am on vacation I can finally go there. Where would you recommend me to stay in?

I would recommend you to stay at Glen Lyon Inn & Suites in Port Hardy and the main reason for that would be an easy way to access all the things you could do in that area.. That would include whale watching (most impressive), kayaking, scuba diving, grizzly tours (also very thrilling), fishing, forest tours etc. Still, I guess that most of these things you would be doing with your friends, so you will have your own friendly guides!
