day trip from heidelberg to amsterdam

Hello to you all! Please can I get some tips on how to plan a day trip to Amsterdam from Heidelberg? We will be there in two weeks time, and as I love Amsterdam I dont want to miss the chance to visit this wonderful city! Only I am not sure how far away Amsterdam is from Heidelberg, whether we should plan it alone or perhaps do an organized trip. All your comments are very welcome.

I guess it is possible to do this, but have you realized it is quite a distance? You can do it by train, but by the time you get there you can have probably only couple of hours in Amsterdam and then you have to hurry back. This is certainly not my idea of having a good time So would say, either stay longer or dont do the trip at all. There are plenty of interesting places closer to Heidelberg.
