| Hello, the Japanese have a long history and tradition that has influenced the way they eat their food. Mainly because of religious reasons, for centuries Japanese have not eaten red meat and focused mainly on rice, vegetables and sea food. Nowadays however much of the western tradition has influenced the national cuisine especially when young people are concerned. In that sense it is merely hard to find a restaurant that would fit a vegetarian. You will most probably have to ask the cook or waiter to give you a hint on the menu and explain what dishes don't have meet in them and what compounds of a meal are of an animal origin. That way you could know what you want to avoid, ordering a modified version containing only vegetarian friendly ingredients. |
