How long before your flight you need to get to airport in SJU?

I am starting to plan this years summer vacation and I just cannot find the right solution. I am thinking of Caribbean area, but still I am not certain. It is probably because I have some fear regarding small airline companies that I should fly with eventually. How long before your flight you need to get to airport in SJU? Do I have to go early?

As far as I know, there is no great need to go tot that airport so early, all you have to know is that line for Ag depts scanner could sometimes be very, very long and all that is left for you in those moments is to be very, very patient. I did not and started an argue with some airport workers but that did not lead anywhere. I have lost both time and nerves. For nothing.
