I am considering the possibility of visiting Columbia this summer with my student colleagues and since we are studying archeology we thought that it would be nice seeing Tierradentro so basically my question is how to visit Tierredentro once we reach Bogota? And one more thing I know that some guerillas are there in Tierradentro and so would like to hear how safe it is for us to stay there.
I once visited Tierradentro and I booked first a train ticket from Bogota to San Andres where I actually stayed for couple of days. Anyway it is no hard visiting Tierradentro from San Andres it takes about 5 hours bus drive and I enjoyed it the entire trip. Anyway there is much to see in Tierradentro for the archaeologists and I guess you already heard for the archaeological museum there as well as ethnological museum. Anyway I don't think there is another way to visit Tierradentro regarding except by having bus drive only some hiking tours are being organized occasionally but it doesn't seems like you are interested in this opt at this moment. And yes, Tierradnetro is very well known for its guerillas actions there but I think they never harmed any tourist.
