Is Yerevan Metro in function? I’m going to Armenia this year and as I’m accustomed to using metro wherever I go, I’d like to use it in Yerevan as I know that it exists there. But I have heard that it is not so much in use. Do you happen to know anything about this topic? If Metro is not in use, what are the options for public transportation?

Well, Metro is in use, as far as I know, but there are not many lines. I have heard that certain parts of the city are not part of the system and there are no stations reaching them. In other words, this metro is in use, but to a limited extent. It is not popular with the locals and they primarily use minibuses as means of public transportation as they are very affordable and economical. Of course, I believe that tourist use the metro when they get there, but I think that it is more like attraction than a real transportation facility. This all happened because during the 90s Armenia underwent the economic crises and there was not enough money to invest into the metro.
