I plan to go to Africa for my vacation. I simply love the Black Continent and I very much appreciate its inhabitants and their cultures, traditions and heritage. But there is something that really upsets me. I have heard some shocking figures about how many people die of AIDS each year in Africa. Is that true? How this epidemic can be prevented there? Is it safe to go to Africa, knowing all that?

I know what you’re talking about! I have heard the same awful story. I think that despite all those actions whose aims was collecting funds for Africa and despite the educating the people of Africa on how AIDS is transmitted. I think that the basic problem is poverty and the fact that people still don’t know almost anything about this fatal disease. I have heard that there are numerous very dangerous rituals which they practice in order to prevent or heal AIDS. Some of them lead directly into the disease since they contain some highly contagious actions such as having sex with as many people as possible or drinking blood from certain animals. I think that there is no danger from traveling to Africa. Just be careful.

I suppose you know all the ways HIV can be transmitted, so avoiding these will keep you safe.
