Are common turists now regular on Antartic?

I have been browsing around the net and noticed that there are so many people that now want to learn about "Antarctic holidays"! While I would never go there myself - I don't like extreme cold - I do think the area is very interesting. But I thought this was the kind of place only scientists ever set foot in. Apparently not. Are common tourists now regular over there?

These so called Antarctic cruises are indeed becoming more and more popular. Which is not surprising, really, if you keep in mind that until recently it was an area no one ever visited. Curiosity is the main selling point here, I guess. The above mentioned cruises are truly expensive, so you really have to want to go there!
