Has anyone been at Carnival in Venice? I want to visit Venice and I’d like to know whether to try and schedule my vacation for the week that carnival takes place. My husband is not so interested because he doesn’t like such festivals and he’s trying to talk me into going to Venice some other time. What is your opinion?

Carnival in Venice is going to take place during the last week of January this year. My opinion is that you should go then and see it, regardless of the fact that your husband doesn’t like such festivals. Besides, it actually looks like a big Renaissance play and I think that you would have a great time there. It’s not mandatory to walk around the city with a mask on, if that’s what he doesn’t like. Try to persuade him because this is not like carnival in Rio, only fun and glittering outfits – in Venice it’s a cultural happening and you may even learn something. Anyway, you can go there and not attend any of the performances, so tell your husband that and start packing!
