Where to organize Cruise stops in 4 cities in North Italy?

We agreed that our next vacation in Italy will be something really special. And it will be. We will land in Rome and from there with a rented car we’ll do some exploring of the North Italy. So, we need some advice – where to organize cruise stops in 4 cities in North Italy?

I think that it is a great idea. Every time I had been to Italy, we always stayed at only one place. Not that I complain or anything, it’s just that I’d wish we were able to see more of the Italy. Anyway, as for those four cities, hmm, Milan and Venice definitely, perhaps Trieste and Florence too. That would be a good choice.
