Where to stay in Oaxaca in December?

My friend has some relatives in Oaxaca. He is going there and is asking me to come along. We will spend a few days at their place but then we plan to go to some hotel. Since we have never been there I would appreciate any suggestion as to where to stay in Oaxaca in December.

There are 93 hotels in Oaxaca. They range from cheap to more expensive ones. However, they offer quite a good service and are generally worth the money. I can recommend few nice ones. My friend is regular there. Beside pleasure he has some business down there to take care of so he travels a lot to Oaxaca. He usually stays at Casa Oaxaca and sometimes at Hotel Casa del Sotano and Hotel Gala.
