Is it better to park at airport or outside NYC?

I would really like to hear more about people’s experiences with parking when having to fly from New York airport. I will have to fly to Boston next week, and since I will be in NY with my car, I am wondering if I should leave it at the airport or somewhere outside NYC. Can anyone help me with this?
How safe is it to leave your car at the airport, for example?

If safety is what you are concerned about the most, then I can tell you that it is much safer to leave your car at the airport than somewhere outside NYC. Unless you have some friends with a private garage or something. I honestly always try to avoid going to NY by car if I have to fly from there, so my advice is to avoid it too if it is possible.
