Is it possible to visit Iraq Kurdistan from Turkey? I remember vaguely that there was a political conflict between Turkey and Kurdistan during the 90s and I remember the scenes when numerous Kurdish refugees were expelled from Turkey. Is that issue resolved now or should I leave the visit to Kurdistan for some other time? And what about the fact that its still part of Iraq?

I really dont know what to advise you. There were severe conflicts between Turkish and Kurdish people over the potential joining the regions inhabited by Kurdish people to Turkey. That cause a great bloodshed and more than 30.000 people were killed during that war. Since Turkey is in the process of joining EU a certain level of tolerance has been created but the border between Turkey and Iraqi is still an area with a certain political tension. Thats why I think that you shouldnt visit Kurdistan. As far as the war in Iraq is concerned, Kurdistan is not participating and is comparatively safe. Maybe somebody from that region could give us more information.
