Corrupt Police in Mali

I am about to go to Mali but I have only heard some negative experience that particularly regards the westerners anyway I am curious if the fact about Corrupt Police in Mali is true? Anyway do you think is it safe going there alone or should I better go to Mali with some organized tour? Thanks!

If you ask me organize tours are always better option no matter this corrupt police in Mali. I have also heard they are corrupt but my experience is quite different. I happened to lose my passport and other documents including money back there in Mali last year and though I thought I wouldn’t get no help from its corrupt police I was very surprised for they were very kind- and I am a westerner also, I am coming from Edinburgh anyway I got my documents fixed in few days and no one made me no problem and so the rest of my stay in Mali I have spent without problem and I even get a normal flight back despite the fact I was without passport. Anyway I don’t think they are more corrupted than any other police it is just that maybe they live in somewhat more difficult conditions so the chances fro the corrupt police to occur in Mali are much higher maybe than in some other corner of the world but basically my experience with them was just fine.
