| I have been a frequent flyer with Independence Air until they joined many other airlines in bankruptcy in year 2005. I have had a lot of upgrades concerning bonuses and ff programs, but I wonder where are my upgrades (Plat Elite) now? I mean, I was recommended by some friends not to sit and wait for better times and changed the airline. Never really found out what happened to IA. I have started again with gathering ff and bonuses, so I guess this is just a warning for all those flyers that they should not think their airlines will live forever. Be prepared for anything! |

| I think you are right. We take bonuses, upgrades, elite/plat/gold statuses for granted, thinking it will always be there for us. That year, 2005, showed that you cannot rely on just one airline. Beside Independence Air, there were other airlines that had serious financial problems, like Delta, ATA, Northwest and some others. In some cases, you could say goodbye to your status, while some were kept. I guess it all still goes around one thing, money and in that spinning, no one really cares about the small players, passengers I mean. |
