Is taxi in Dakar cheap?

What I want to know is whether taxi in Dakar cheap because I’m traveling there on a business trip and since I’m not very fond of public transportation, especially in foreign countries, I’d like to cover the distance between the point A and point B in a taxi. I have heard various stories about people ripped off by taxi drivers. What can I expect there?

Well, as it is usually recommended when you are traveling to a foreign country. You should check out whether there are some organized taxi services because if there is some kind of association then drivers are supposed to use taxi-meter and then you can see how much the ride will cost you. Otherwise you would have to agree upon the price and I frankly don’t like that kind of deal. If you are staying at some hotel there it would be good if you could ask the concierge or the staff for some information about that and I’m sure that they will be glad to help you. I think that the taxi there is not very expensive but I’m not so sure.
