Are many beggars in Dakar?

I’m traveling to Dakar because my boyfriend wants to drive that Paris – Dakar Rally. I can’t say that I’m too thrilled about it. I simply don’t like impoverished African countries. It’s not that I wouldn’t like those people to have more money and better life conditions but since I can’t help them I tend to avoid it. But since I have to go there I’m wondering if there are many beggars in Dakar.

Oh my God! I can’t believe anybody can say something like this. What are you? A heartless snob? I understand that you don’t like certain countries because there are not good fashion stores and stuff but what you have said here is just outrageous. I mean, how can you think like that? So what if there are many beggars in Dakar? You should be sorry for them and not asking such silly questions. Just tell your boyfriend that you can’t accompany him on this trip because the country is not glamorous enough. Start a petition for transferring this rally to some other, more fashionable location, Sunset Boulevard – Fifth Avenue Rally. You should really reconsider your moral values.
