Hi. My girlfriend and me are traveling through Latin America and it looks like we will be there on New Years Eve. We are not sure about the country yet, although it will most probably be Mexico. What is New Years Eve like in Latin America? And how about Christmas? Any experiences?
Hello, Christmas is a great event in south America what with the people being Very Catholic and so on. The celebrations are heavily influences by Spanish traditions, which means going to Church on Christmas eve followed by Santa knocking on the door at midnight! Dinner is after midnight and the celebrations ends around 3 am. The same goes for New Years Eve. There are fireworks at midnight and most people make dolls out of old clothes and paper and burn them at midnight. This represents a new beginning.
