We have decided, my wife and I, to visit Tasmania this summer. Our friends have been there last year and they are thrilled with everything they saw, so we took their advice and will be going there. The only issue is, we will be taking our children to Tasmania (age 5 and 7). Do you think it is a good idea? We never went anywhere together before and I think this is a good opportunity.

I do not see why you wouldnt take them with you. It would be nice for them to develop traveling culture in those early years. The only problem you could have is during flight. They are kids, so long trips could irritate them, and that means trouble. You should travel by day, avoid night flights, if you do not want your kids to wake up anyone and ask for seats with video screens (there are probably cartoons in the offer and that will keep them occupied).
