I have chosen turkey as my vacation destination mainly because there are numerous archeological sites, museums and remains from the ancient times and besides leisure activities I can learn something. Now I’m making an itinerary and I don’t know when Izmir Archeological Museum is open for tourists. Do you happen to have this information? Is this museum worth visiting?

There is no need to ask such questions because in my opinion each museum or gallery or any other place of art is wroth visiting. I think that a person who really wants to learns something and get to know the history of a certain country or region shouldn’t be thinking in terms of ‘worth visiting or not’. Izmir Museums has numerous archeological treasures from various periods of history and you can see sculptures and statues from pre-Roman times including, of course, Hellenic art and art of all other civilizations which lived in the area. Its opening hours are a bit strange as it works from Tuesday to Sunday, but I can’t tell you the exact schedule. The ticket price is quite affordable and it is about 2.5 USD.
