Florida West Coast for 2 weeks

I am seriously thinking to spend at least two weeks in Florida, considering going on its west coast. I am not quite sure how should I plan this trip and in which direction it should be going, meaning relaxing or a bit exploring this area. I wonder of any of you have already visited this part pf US and how would you spend two weeks in Florida, and I am even willing to hear about other west coast places and suggestions.

Isnt Tampa the main part of the Floridas west coast? I was in Tampa Bay area with some of the friends; it was kind of included in our small Florida tour. I must say that we enjoyed spending time on the beach and I even managed to visit some places while I was there, like art museum and aquarium. During this tour we had entered the Gulf Coast area for few days, "snored" for awhile on the Clearwater beach and visited Anna Maria Island. It was a nice relaxing vacation even though some things were done in the rush.
