LAX tunnels closed permanently!

I have heard that there has been some stressful event several years ago at the LAX airport that caused some tunnels to be closed permanently! What was that situation? Some friend told me there was a man who had some weapon or something and since he escaped the reach of the security, via those tunnels, he could go to every part of the airport. Is this how this happened?

You are talking about the incident that happened in 2002. At terminal 5 checkpoint, a man set the magnetometer in motion and did escape the security. This caused an immediate evacuation of terminal 4 through 8. 8000 people had to be evacuated and 150 flights were delayed. I guess you know that this cause a big commotion within airports officials and security measures were increased since then. I just dont know will it be enough.
