What is the best way to reach LA from OC airport?

We will be visiting my wifes family in Orange County. So, naturally, well take a flight to OC airport. Since we will have some extra days left of out vacation, we thought of going to LA for couple of days. So, what is the best way to reach LA from OC airport? We will be probably going by car, so please take that into consideration.

Whatever route you choose, you have to get to the SR 55 road. You can get there by taking I 5 and to get there you can either use I 405 or MacArthur Boulevard. You did not mention it but I suppose that you would stay at some hotel in LA. I would recommend you to take Grand Tour of LA, which will make you see everything there is to see in a town that big and in only one day. And the price was reasonable, if I remember correctly.
