| Hi. I have a question for all of you who like hiking and actively participate in hiking trips! I am looking for a nice place to go hiking, and would like to know what your favorite hiking destination is. Why do you like it, how difficult is the trail, and so on and so on. In other words, all suggestions are more than welcome. |

| I was myself very impressed by Mount Paektu, or Paektu-gang, the high mountain which is considered sacred by all Koreans, and which is situated on the Chinese/Korean border. The trail itself can be as hard or easy as you like, as there is an asphalted path all the way up to the top, including picnic spots once you reach the top, but for the more active people, you can in fact choose to ignore the paths. Mind you, this trip is reserved for a small amount of people for the time being. Getting into North Korea is not all that easy. Although for those from the South, it might be nice to know that the Hyundai Asan group, which has already been organizing trips to Keasong, is planning to start running trips to Mount Paektu in the near future. This, needless to say, involves airplanes to China followed by travel to Mount Paektu from the Chinese side. |
