Hello to all. Next month my friends and I are planning a field trip to the Sawtooth mountains. But weve heard from a friend that mountains are quite impassable. What is the best way to squeeze in Sawtooth mountains in Idaho? All of your advices are welcomed. Thanks in advance. Cheers.

Hi to you. I am quite adventurer, and I often go to the Sawtooth mountains for climbing or rafting. Your friend had right. There are some impassable areas. But if you go with guide, or if you go with some agency, then you will probably avoid these areas. Backpacking is the really great activity for these mountains, rafting too. I hope that you have prepared well for backpacking, considering clothes, shoes and so. You should also bring topographic and trail maps, binoculars, compass, camera, field guides to flora and fauna etc. When you are at the mountains then you should also try river rafting and lake kayaking. Have a nice time. Cheers.
