I'm planning a trip to Germany with a friend of mine We are college students, which means we cant go to any fancy hotels. Our aim is to practice our German, to learn more about the culture, and also have some fun. One setback is only one week well be staying in Germany, but I hope we will be able to visit at least some of the most important sites. We could use any suggestion as to where to start, which means of transport to use, etc.

The week in Germany is quite a setback. Not many cities can be properly visited in that time, let alone an entire country. However, I can give you some useful tips on where to go in that short time. First, since you are interested in history and culture, you simply must not miss Tuebingen. It is a University town, and it is one of the most beautiful ancient towns I have ever seen. I would suggest you concentrate on some smaller towns, and stay out of the major cities. If you want to have some fun, it is best that you visit Berlin, and not waste your time on other cities such as Frankfurt or Munich. Darmstadt is a good place. It is not too expensive and there are lots of things to do. One other thing you simply must visit are famous Bavarian castles. The view of the landscape there is absolutely stunning. You should also know that one of these castles is one of the candidates for on of the Modern Seven Wonders. These couple of suggestions will eat all your time, but believe me, its worth it!
