Any good skifields in New Zealand?

Hi!! I got into a discussion with one of my friends recently. She said she would love to go to New Zealand, and I told her that I had heard that it would be a great place for skiing. She nearly killed herself laughing, saying that New Zealand has no snow and is warm and sunny all year round. Could you tell me who was right - are there any good skifields in New Zealand?

Yes there are. Whoever told you this was quite right. In fact, there are fourteen designated ski areas, and snow boarding is also very popular. Some of the mountains in New Zealand have snow on them all year round.
