Which is the best part of the year to go to New Zealand?

We would like to enjoy some time in the sun and have been looking into great holiday destinations. New Zealand just sounds absolutely great for a long vacation! What I am really missing though is some information about the weather. When is the best part of the year to go to New Zealand? Thanks for your comments.

Winter. That is, European winter. In our part of the world this is the time when it is summer. That is great if you suffer from winter depression and want to avoid the cold - just come and hibernate in New Zealand! And it will be warmer than your summers anyway.
