| Hey. I wonder if anyone has visited hill tribes in thailand. I am an anthropologist. I was given an assignment to study these tribes in northern thailand. I would like to hear some advices which clothes to wear, what food to bring, etc. Looking forward to visiting that country Ive learned so much about it, but have never been there. |

| I visited hilltribes in Thailand with my wife 2 years ago. We wanted to learn about their way of life. They still live as they live thousand years ago. Except Northern Thailand, they also inhabited Laos, Myanmar and Vietnam. They were in origin from Southern China. In Northern Thai, there are seven major tribes. Every tribe differs from another in culture, language or dress style. They are mostly farmers and very hospitable. Dont bring much luggage, because you can find everything you need in Chiang Mai. Wear some light clothes, but dont wear short ones, because hilltribe people can be offended. You mast bring camera and film, because the land is excellent for taking pictures. I hope youll find the tribes as interesting as we did. |
