Everybody wants to go to Hawaii and that’s just fine. But not everyone knows when is the best time to go to Hawaii, when is the best weather, when is the cheapest or when is the most/least crowded time to visit Hawaii. Don’t worry, I will tell you everything you need to know.

But first, you have to decide why are you going to Hawaii? Do you want to spend less or more money, or you don’t care? Do you want to enjoy lying down on beaches or surfing? Or do you have some other reasons? One way or another, when you decide what you want to see and do in Hawaii then the rest is easy, now you just have to read the rest of the story and pick the most appropriate time for your vacation.

The weather

Let’s start with the weather. It’s hard to tell for sure when or where is going to rain or when will the sun shine because Hawaii are a group of eight island so it’s impossible to generally speak about weather there. The most popular and the biggest island is, so called, Big Island and so I will mostly write about weather on it.

The best time to go to Hawaii (considering the weather) is in April, May, September and October. If you are worried about the rain than the best time to go is the summer. Although, it can be very warm (maybe too warm) so think again if you don’t like very hot weather. Hawaii also has a dry and rainy season. Dry season lasts from April to October and rainy from November to March. In recent years even the rainy seasons has been very dry.

Don’t worry about the hurricanes, they are rare. But just so you know, the hurricane season is from June to November.

Water temperature in Hawaii is very consistent; the year average is warm 74 degrees and sometime even 80 degrees.

Money and crowds

The cheapest time or, let’s say, the time when you can find some good travel bargains are in April, May, September and October. Airfare and lodging tend to be more expensive during the “high” season of mid-December to mid-April, so if you plan to visit Hawaii during this period I advise you to make your reservations early.

About the crowds, well, you can assume that summer is most crowded time especially because the kids are out of school. And there is also a spring break but there are enough beaches for everyone, so don’t worry. You will find your place under the sun and hopefully on the beach too. J

Fun time

Of course, you are probably looking for some interesting things to see in Hawaii or maybe for some wild experiences to have, don’t worry, Hawaii can offer you all that. There are many events through the year; these are just some of them - Merrie Monarch Hula Festival, The Ironman Triathlon and many others.

If you are more into sports and surfing don’t come on summer. The winter is the best times for real surfers who like big waves.

Conclusion

I promise you, in whatever time of the year you decide to visit Hawaii you won’t regret it. There is no such a beautiful place on Earth as Hawaii; I hope you will see that by yourself. Have a good trip.

Want to see whales? Go mid-December to end of March. Want to have the resorts to yourself? Go election week (no conventions) or the first week school starts back up in September. Beginning of December is uncrowded too. Want to get bump vouchers? Go spring break or Christmas/New Year's week. There's really never a bad time to go, but I avoid spring break.
