I promised my kids an idyllic winter holiday, just like the ones form the old movies. They expect days full of winter joys, skiing, sledge rides, skating and evenings spent in a rustic hut, cuddled in front of the fireplace and crackling fire, sipping tea. Even better would be if they could learn something about the wildlife of our country. How does Yellowstone sound as a destination?

Its a marvelous idea, because Yellowstone is a true fairytale winter resort. During snowfall certain roads in the park are closed for vehicles and tourists are transported by means of guided snowmobile or coach, and I think the kids will love it, as well as, a guided ski tours through surrounding areas. You can, for example, stay at Old Faithful Inn in order to create an old-fashioned, cozy atmosphere. It can get very cold during wintertime at Yellowstone and a thick layer of ice covers the Yellowstone Lake, and it becomes like a big ice-rink. Hot water of geysers and cold air produce mist and give an almost surreal atmosphere to the scenery, together with numerous frozen waterfalls.
