Hi. I am a 38 year old woman from London. Last year I got divorced and since then I have also taken a sabatical from my work. I have really used this time and opportunity to explore myself and my own being. I have been to India as well as to Marocco and I learnt so much. Next I would really like to go to Rio de Janeiro. But a woman travelling alone and all that - I heard some nasty stories. Are they true? Or can I go with no problem?

Hello! Would you hear is unfortunately quite true. Women do get kidnapped and raped - I advise you to stay away from any ruins and far away places. Use your common sense and your instinct. Dress in such a way that you do not provoke the men over there. And always carry a cell phone to call if needed, or buy a so-called rape alarm. This makes a very loud noise when you activate it.
