Where would you go: La Paz or Santa Cruz?

I am going to South America next month. I was thinking of going to either La Paz, or to Santa Cruz. However, since I have never been there, I am still a bit undecided. If anyone could give me some advice on what to choose, it would really mean a lot to me. Thanks in advance.

La Paz and Santa Cruz are both very nice places. They offer good time there, have both nice places to stay and very kind, hospitable people. One thing that could bother you, though, especially if you have any breathing problems, is the extreme height of La Paz. I think that it is the highest located capitol in the world. At some 10000 feet, the air is rather rare, so if you have weaker lung capacity, you might be very uncomfortable. On the other hand, if you are completely healthy, you may choose it exactly because of its height, because his position provides you with some of the most fantastic sights you will ever witness.
