Where is Bucerias Village located?

I had a discussion with my friends the other day. There was a girl who claimed that her sister was in some village in Mexico called Bucerias. Since we played a game and we had to come up with a name of the coastal places she wrote this one. We accused her of having “inventive geography” syndrome (making up the names of places or rivers that don’t exist) but she insisted that she was telling the truth. Was she right? If so, where is Bucerias Village located?

Ha, ha! Your friend was right. The village really exists and it is located only 18km (11 miles) north of the Puerto Vallarta airport. Bucerías, meaning "place of the divers" is a small fishing village in Nayarit state on Banderas Bay with the population of 10,000 people. Many tourists who find the life in Puerto Vallarta too crowded and noisy consider it a peaceful alternative. You can find some strange accommodations there; trailer-park spaces as well as exclusive villa rentals are prevalent. However there is a small but nice selection of hotels as well. So if you want to enjoy the amenities of the Mexican coast without the hustle and bustle of the major resort or crowded destination you may consider Bucerias village.
