Where can I find a tour guide in Sydney?

We should be in Sydney next month and I hope we will be able to stay there for three weeks and I must admit that I just can’t wait for that flight! Anyway, since I plan on seeing a lot, can you tell me where I can find a tour guide in Sydney?

I don’t think that hiring a guide is the best way to get to know Sydney, or any other place. I mean, sure, you will see all those attractions and interesting spots (everything you see on TV and in brochures) but is that the real thing? Will you get to know Australian people or just their monuments, museums, nice city locations. I think that some things just cannot be seen with a guide.
