What is the best time to visit Western Cape in South Africa? Im a scout and Ive heard that it offers great possibilities for scouting, but I dont know anything about typical climate there, and somehow I reckon its pretty hot. Id like to go scouting while weather is only moderately warm. Has anyone been there on a scouting trip and how was it?

I wasnt there as a scout but as an ordinary tourist and it was really beautiful. Diversity is the best term to describe all aspects of this province. There are very high mountain ranges with valleys between them. This caused climate to vary from Mediterranean to maritime. At certain regions there are thunderstorms and snow is a usual occurrence at higher regions. Its a bit like four seasons in one day situation. Ive heard that the most pleasant period is during March and April, when temperatures are quite mild. I dont know about scouting, but because of all these different climate and geographical influences vegetation is fertile and colorful, so even the ordinary sightseeing is quite an adventure.
