When is Mardi Gras carnival and where exactly it is held in New Orleans?

Hi a couple of friend of mine and I have been planning to take a trip to New Orleans in a couple of weeks and since we would like to be there at the time of Mardi Gras Festival we would like to get some info on when is it held and where exactly. Can anyone help us on this? Thanks a lot in advance! bye

Hello,
I think that traveling to New Orleans in September to be present for a carnival that is held somewhere in January of even later. It is the 3 days period before Lent and it is celebrated all over the world, but New Orleans is maybe the most famous for its celebration. The festival is held in the whole city. Have a nice stay anyway. bye
