Hey. Its not like Im a hypochondriac but what if I, for example, get sick during my stay in Canada? Im going to colder regions and I might catch a cold. Ill bring my health insurance policy but I dont know if its valid in Canada. And if its not, is there a possibility that I pay treatment and later refund expenses from my insurance. Just to mention that Im an American citizen.

What I know for sure is that Canadas health policy doesnt allow paying expenses form its funds to non-Canadians. So, you have two options. One is to ask your health insurance company if it will cover the expenses of a possible medical treatment in Canada, or refund you the money if you pay the expenses yourself. The other option is to go to a private medical practice. I dont think that your insurance covers that, but you should ask them. I guess that the best thing you can do is actually take a good care of yourself and bring certain medicines for emergency situations. Unfortunately, its very expensive when one gets sick in a foreign country.
