My friends are going to Peru. They want me to go with them but I am having second thoughts about the whole trip. I don’t know if it is worth going there. What else beside Machu Pichu can you see in Peru? I don’t want to waste money and ten days of my life for nothing.

Well, Machu Picchu is truly amazing but there are many other things you can see in Peru. In fact, you will not be able to see them all in one visit. Cusco was the capital of the Inca Empire so I suggest you visit it and see amazing combination of Inca and colonial Spanish architecture. Lima has much history in its buildings and streets. You shouldn’t miss Church of San Francisco, one of the rare buildings which survived Lima’s earthquake in 1746. Lake Titicaca is another beautiful place that needs to be seen. If you want to see tropical rainforest with some many plant species, butterfly species, 800 bird types and 200 different mammals, including tapirs, sloth, monkeys, jaguar and capybaras then you should go to Manu National Park. Also, Tambopata-Candamo Reserved Zone is a wonderful place to see many different species of plants, birds and butterflies. Five thousand years old city of Caral is remarkable place. There are many other things to see in Peru so go on, pack up your things and fly to Peru. You won’t regret it.

There are many places a person could visit in Peru but you would have to focus on one area - depending on your free time of course.

You could visit Peruan coast and places like Lima, Trujillio and Arequipa.
Then you could choose to visit the highland and the city of Cuzco and Macchu Picchu.

In the Amazonian plain, there is a place called Iquitos. This place can only be reached by plain or boat, not through mainland.
