Hello, people. I am a student from California and I will fly next month to Russia. I will spend several months there, considering that I am an exchange student. Ive chosen to live in Russinan family. It is cheaper and in that way I will learn the Russian way of life better. I wonder what is appropriate to give as a gift to my Russinan family. Do you have any ideas?

Hello to you too. Well it is nice that you are interested in Russian culture and that youll be spending your time there with the family from Russia. I advise you not to give them a present immediately. Maybe its better that some time passes that you can know each other better. If there is someones birthday coming or some holiday like Womens Day, it will be the perfect opportunity to give the present. Considering you come from California, maybe it would be nice to give something what represents your region, like some quality wine from California. I suggest you not to buy some expensive gifts. They might feel weird. But, you may not buy them some cheap stuff, it will offend them, I am sure. Its not bad idea to buy flowers for you hostess. I hope Ive given you few ideas. Have a nice time there!
