I heard so much about Istanbul. Everybody except me seemed to be there. Not for long. I am going there next month and would like to make up for the lost time. I would like to see as much as possible in two weeks. What are the most interesting spots in Taksim square in Istanbul?

Taksim Square is really one of the most attractive places in the whole city. At the center of it you can find the 12 m high Republic Monument. Pietro Canonica, an Italian architect designed it to honor the Independence War, foundation of the Republic and Kemal Ataturk, the first president of modern Turkey. On top of that, there are many cafes, shops, restaurants, fancy hotels, etc.

There are other interesting buildings like the Marmara Hotel (5 stars), Ataturk Cultural Center, a very nice park called Taksim Trip and St. Trias Church which was built in 1880. I also suggest you visit The Military Museum which is in the vicinity. It is among the best museums in Istanbul where you can see helmets, tents, flags, weapons, uniforms and armors used by the Turkish army throughout the history.
