What are good, affordable places to stay in Maui and Kaui?

I am planning to go to the Hawaii this summer. I am very excited because of it and I am looking forward to it very much. I thought about visiting Maui or Kaui, or maybe to spend half vacation on one place, and second half on other place. Can someone tell me what are good, affordable places to stay in Maui and Kaui?

I was on Kauai- The Garden isle once. It was great. I spent there 10 days. It is certain that I will never forget it. The nature on the island is like ,you died and went to heaven. Beaches are great. Waves are great for surfing. But I didnt go far from shore because I am little afraid of sharks. I suggest you the same thing. If I remember correctly, staying there wasnt very expensive. So there are a lot of local affordable places on Kauai, and I think on Maui also. The only thing that is little expensive was airplane ticket. I mean for me it was, maybe for you it isnt so expensive. It depends where you are from.
