| We are spending our vacation in Galapagos. The flight to Galapagos is expensive for the three of us (my wife, my son and me), so we decided to reach the island from the mainland by ship. We are also thinking on visiting Quito on our way to Galapagos. Maybe this would increase our travel costs but we’ll profit a lot from seeing Quito, so we’ll compensate our expenses by making the trip cheaper. |

If you fly to Ecuador and then continue your trip from Ecuador to Galapagos by ship, you can’t miss Quito. It is the capital of the mainland and you’ll land there. Once you land in Quito, it would be a pity not to see the city, so I suggest you to leave your luggage at the airport or elsewhere and spend the whole day walking through the city. However, I’m afraid reaching Galapagos by sea is not the cleverest idea because sometime the ship transfer is as expensive as the flight. On the other hand, it will take more time than the flight. After all, Galapagos has recently become reachable by ship, so the schedule is likely to change and you risk that your departure may be cancelled.
